Now, if you are looking for a gaming keyboard, I have found the perfect keyboard for you. Allow me to introduce you to the Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum Mechanical Keyboard. This keyboard is fully loaded with programmable G-keys, Romer-G Tactile switches, LIGHTSYNC RGB, and integrated palm rest. Hi guys! Welcome back to my YouTube channel, and in today’s video, I am going to tell you everything you need to know about this amazing gaming keyboard. However, before we go any further, make sure you subscribe to this channel and don’t forget to hit that bell icon so you never miss any updates. Now, without further ado, let’s dive into this. Why Logitech?
First of all, the question is why I decided to review a keyboard from Logitech. Well, there are several other popular companies that make such keyboards like Razer, Corsair, and SteelSeries. However, Logitech is among the leading manufacturers of input and interface devices for PCs in the world. Yes, we can definitely say that if a product is being produced by Logitech, it has to be one of the best. Now, the Logitech G910 is specifically targeted to the more dedicated spectrum of gamers.
Now, we will discuss some of the basic aspects of this keyboard. It is basically a refreshed version of the older Logitech G910 Orion Spark. The latest keyboard is also the first Logitech keyboard to use the company’s proprietary Romer-G switches. The dimensions of this model are 210 x 505 x 34.3 mm and it weighs around 1.5 kilograms, which makes it quite a hefty, heavy, and of course, sturdy product. It has nine macro keys, media controls, and the design is stylish as well as robust. And after using this keyboard, I can definitely say that it provided me with an excellent typing experience. And on top of that, this keyboard comes with proper smartphone integration.
Design and features
You will be amazed to know that this product offers more than 16.8 million customizable colors across its RGB array. And I would say that the LED lighting itself is impressive. Well, the light emanates from just under the keycaps of the keyboard instead of at the base too. We all know that several RGB mechanical keyboards including some high-end models such as Corsair’s K95 Platinum have light bleeding all over the place.
However, this isn’t the case with the Logitech G910 since the company has isolated the LEDs, which gives the keyboard a cleaner look. And at the same time, I must admit that the Logitech G910 does not have quite the same build quality as the Corsair’s K95. Why? Because the body of the Logitech G910 is completely made of plastic. It is important to note that the plastic used is of high quality and the keyboard feels very sturdy.
The Logitech G910 certainly looks as well as feels like a high-end device with tasteful accents. The keyboard features a full-size keyboard layout and looks nearly identical in appearance to the older Orion Spark. It has a 10-key number pad, Arx smartphone dock, dedicated media controls, and three swappable profile keys. You might be thinking what makes it different from the Logitech Spark. Well, there are two major differences. Firstly, the Logitech G910 Spectrum doesn’t have those sculpted keycaps that Spark has. The Spark’s keys on the left half have a four-facet concave keycap. In comparison, the keys on the right half feature a three-facet design.
Well, the Logitech G910 Spectrum does not bother with this and comes with those typical, slightly concave keycap designs. And the second change made to the design of this keyboard is that the Spectrum has removable wrist rest. I would say that both of these changes are definite improvements. I previously mentioned that this keyboard comes with smartphone integration.
Smart Phone Integration
So, how do you utilize this feature? Well, you simply need to download the free Logitech Arx Control companion application from Google Play Store or Apple App Store on your smartphone or tablet. Along the left side of the keyboard, you will find five macro keys that have a unique font design. The other four macro keys are placed along the top above the function keys. However, there is no USB passthrough on this keyboard, which, I believe, is an oversight for a keyboard of this caliber. Well, there is still a set of dedicated media control buttons and a thumb-roller volume control. With that being said, let’s talk about the
Performance of the Logitech G910 Spectrum
The Romer-G switches of this keyboard are tactile, responsive, and relatively quiet for mechanical switches. The user experience is smooth and the myriad of lighting options make this keyboard perfect for catering to personal preferences. If we talk about everyday typing, the experience is really smooth and the keyboard performs well. Moreover, many of the gaming-centric features of the Logitech G910 could be repurposed for light productivity. For example, you can create a keyboard profile in order to speed up mundane tasks such as copying and pasting or launching programs that you frequently use.
Generally speaking, this keyboard is best suited for heavy gamers. You might also want to note that the company claims that the Romer-Gs on the keyboard is good for more than 70 million presses. That’s pretty impressive, right? And since we are talking about the gaming performance of this keyboard, let me tell you that the macro keys really do come in handy. You will notice that the Romer-Gs are speedy. Another thing we need to discuss is the keyboard software. The Logitech Gaming Software application is actually well made. The app contains the expected setup for customizing the G910 Spectrum’s LEDs.
The Macro Keys Come In Handy
You will also find the usual color waves, ripple effects, and breathing. You can customize every single key by hue, brightness, as well as speed. And on top of that, the app is very straightforward and really easy to navigate. The application will also scan your PC for games and right away offer up a number of keybindings you can simply drag over to the G macro keys and assign them. And once this keyboard knows what game you are playing, there may be options to assign color setups specific to and synced with that game. For example, if you are playing PUBG, the app will detect the buttons used in the game and only illuminate those keys.
Now, before you buy the Logitech G910 gaming keyboard, you must keep in mind that this keyboard comes with some specific system requirements. If your gaming setup does not meet those requirements, the keyboard won’t work properly. First of all, the system should have Windows 8, 8.1, 7, Vista, 10, or later. The keyboard also works perfectly fine on Mac OSX. Moreover, it uses a USB 2.0 port and there should be at least 70 MB of free storage space on your hard disk. Lastly, a stable internet connection is required for software download. I believe everyone can easily meet these system requirements unless you are using a computer from the 1970s. Lol!
In the end, I would say that it is a gamer’s dream of a keyboard. A lack of hysteresis, low actuation points, the presence of RGB lighting, and strong build quality make it the perfect keyboard for dedicated gamers. What do you think? Tell us in the comments below.
